Why Am I Getting Unwanted Calls for Loan Offers?

We’ve all been there. Your phone rings and you see an unknown number. Who could it be?

If you’ve recently applied for a mortgage or loan, you might be getting a lot more of these calls than normal. The person on the other end of the line is usually a salesperson.

Why? When you apply for a mortgage or loan, we must pull your credit report from a credit bureau like Equifax, Experian, Innovis, or Transunion. The credit bureau puts a flag on your account that you’re looking for financing.

Competing lenders and companies that sell credit cards and insurance can purchase these lists - and it’s completely legal.

Of course, we don’t want you getting these calls and solicitations! If you’ve already chosen to work with us and don’t need alternative loan options, we can help you stop these calls.

How to Get Rid of Unwanted Solicitation

  • Enroll your number on the Federal Trade Commission’s Do Not Call Registry. This greatly reduces the number of calls you get. Please sign up using this link: https://www.donotcall.gov/
  • To exclude your name from lists used for credit or insurance offers, enter your information at OptOutPrescreen.com.
When you enroll in the Do Not Call Registry, your number does not expire. After you register, you may still be able to be contacted by political groups, charities, debt collectors, and surveys.

By opting out using OptOutPrescreen.com, you prevent your credit file information being used for credit or insurance offers. The website is powered by the credit bureaus themselves, Equifax, Experian, Innovis, and TransUnion.

At Integra First Federal Credit Union, we remain committed to protecting member privacy and do not sell member information to third parties.
